Winery Residual Management

Brenn-O-Kem took the decision in 1995 to expand our offering by providing a service to the wine industry to purchase all wine lees and raw tartrates, which is often a difficult and costly exercise for cellars to dispose of. Our Worcester branch, Wine Lees Plant, offers the service of handling your winery waste removal and will arrange collection and removal of your wine lees. Kindly take note of our rules and guidelines regarding wine lees sludge removal. Effluent is treated in the new Vinaqua plant.

In addition, Brenn-O-Kem purchases grape pomace (grape seeds and skins) from selected cellars in the Western Cape. The collection and removal of grape pomace from cellars are managed from our Wolseley branch under the conditions of our Waste Management Licence (Licence number: 19/2/5/2/B5/14/WL0138/19) granted in terms of the National Environmental Management: Waste Act, 2008 (Act No. 59 of 2008) as amended. We can provide you with the necessary documentation to confirm that the pomace is re-used in a responsible manner and in accordance with legislative and IPW requirements.
